Content Revisions

Each content has version control system. The version control system is responsible for tracking any changes made to the content. Every time a content is saved, a new revision is created, allowing you to restore the content to a previous at any time. Revisions can also be used just to compare different versions, and visualize the changes made.

Revision Tab
After editing a content for the first time, a new tab will appear in the content page, next to Edit. Click on the tab to enter the revisions page.
Revisions Page
In the revision page all revisions sorted by date are listed - the top one being the current one. Each line contain basic information; Date and time, the user that saved the content and the revision log.
Revision Log Information
When editing a content, at the bottom of the edit page, you will find the Log Message box. The text in this box will later appear in the revisions page. This additional text is very useful to help other users understand the reason of a specific change.
Comparing Revisions
A very useful function in the revision page is the compare revision also known as diff.
To compare between two revisions, simply select both revisions using the radio buttons (see image bellow) and click on the Show Diff button, a new screen will then appear with a table displaying the visible changes.

- Red text Color
- The value was changed to new value.
- Black text Color
- Value was added, no previous value existed.
- Yellow background
- Old value.
- Green background
- New value.
Restoring Older Revisions
To restore an older version, use the Revert button. This will result with the the selected revision copied to the top of the list, leaving all the other revisions in place. This action will not overwrite other revisions, and it's safe to use.
Viewing Older revisions
Each revision has a unique link that never changes. This is very useful when you want to send to someone a link to an specific revisions. This assures you send the right content version even if changes were made to the content after sending the link. To get the unique link of a revisions, click on the date of the revisions (marked as a blue link) in the revisions page, this will take you to the specific revision page.
